Local writer, Alex Christopher, is urging us to unleash the author within! But instead of being locked up inside, she is harnessing the power of a beachfront setting and letting the ocean view ignite our creativity when putting pen to paper.
Alex has created a series of Seaside Writing sessions and the next round is due to start in mid February. Here she tells us more...

The Carlton Theatre, located inside Carlyle Gardens Retirement Village, will host the Hot Club Quartet for a night of Gypsy Jazz and Latin Music.
Lead by International Violinist Monica Martin, the Hot Club Quartet also features John Garland on keyboard, Reg Braun on drums and Bob Passmore on double bass.

Carlyle Gardens will throw open the doors of the Carlton Theatre on February 3rd for their first Arts & Crafts Market of 2018.
These markets have become a popular attraction for market goers from all over the city and the organisers promise to come 'back with a bang'!
Patriots Australia will be setting up a display of motorcycles for visitors to admire. Have your photo taken sitting on one of the bikes, have a chat with club members and make a donation to Legacy while you are there.
There will of course be all of the fabulous handmade items, beautiful handicrafts, delicious food and fun market vibe that we have come to love. Bring the kids along and let them enjoy the free make and take craft corner, plus the Carlyle restaurant & bar will be open for coffee and snacks.

Sonia is a local artist currently in her 3rd year of a Visual Arts degree at TAFE NQ in partnership with Canberra University and runs a Facebook page called Artists Freecycle. She is jumping at the opportunity to apply for the current round of Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) grants in a bid to bring Melbourne based Puppeteer Jhess Knight to Townsville for a series of free talks and workshops.
