Get your hands dirty and plant a tree

20/7/2018

National Tree Day also known as Planet Ark Day is at the end of July. Schools celebrate on Friday 27th July, and the public on Sunday 29th July so join in by planting a tree or native plant or two at school, home or a park near you.

In Townsville, Conservation Volunteers are partnering with Townsville City Council and Coastal Dry Tropics Inc to coordinate a local celebration of National Tree Day.
Come along on Sunday 29th 2018 to the Community Tree Planting at Sherriff Park from 8.30am.  Bring along your family and get everyone involved!  There will be information available at the event about other conservation projects in the area, and ways we can all get involved.

Can't make it to Sheriff Park but still want to get involved?  Why not plant a tree or two at home!

If you are looking for native plants for your garden or property, Conservation Volunteers runs a native plant nursery and grows plants suitable for Townsville and surrounds. Native plants are ideal in our dry tropical climate and create habitat for birds and insects.

The nursery is open Fridays from 8am to 12 noon at 56 Cape Palllarenda Road, Rowes Bay (in the Sustainability Centre.) Come down and have a look or phone to make an alternative time.

For more information on the native plant nursery or other Townsville projects, or to volunteer please contact Wendy Willcox on 0409 934 263 or 4774 1693, or townsville@cva.org.au
